What is Blogger?
Blogger is a free online platform which enables users to create blogs (a type of website) with time-stamped entries. It was originally developed by Pyra Labs before being acquired by Google in 2003. Its blog publishing system allows users to create multiple blog sites, each with their own custom domain name, and posts can be displayed in one of seven different ways – classic, flipcard, magazine, mosaic, sidebar, snapshot and timeslide.
Blogging has become a popular way for people to express their interests and opinions and share information with others. Many bloggers have built up a loyal reader following and earn money from their blogs by placing adverts or selling products to visitors. Bloggers are also known to use their blogs as portfolios, demonstrating their skills in copywriting, creative writing, photography or design.
Some bloggers publish content on political, social or cultural issues. This can be a difficult subject to cover successfully as it requires the blogger to be unbiased and objective, but some bloggers have managed to gain large followings by producing thought-provoking content. Bloggers may also choose to use their blogs to promote a particular viewpoint or belief, and this can be a controversial topic.
Most blogs are written by individuals and can be a hobby or part-time activity. However, some bloggers have made a full-time living from their blogs and have become famous in their fields. This has led to some bloggers receiving threats or even being arrested for their blogging activities.
Blogger is easy to use and is a great choice for beginners or anyone who wants to start writing online. It is free to use and offers a variety of different templates and layouts to help your blog look professional. It also has the ability to add in widgets which can be useful for displaying things like a photo gallery, a search box or social media links.
While it does not have the flexibility of some other online website builders, such as WordPress, it is still an excellent tool for creating a blog and can be used to create both personal and business blogs. Its simple user interface and the fact that it is owned by Google means that new bloggers can get started with it straight away.
Blogger also has an official discussion forum which is a good place to ask questions and get advice from other bloggers. The forum is monitored by Google staff, and there are often ‘Top Contributors’ in the community who have a high level of knowledge. The forum can be accessed through the dashboard on any Blogger site. Alternatively, there are many online resources where you can find advice and tips on how to best use the platform. These include online guides, forums and YouTube videos. Some of these resources include information on how to make your blog more visible in search engines, and how to write effective content for a blog. They can also help with setting up and managing AdSense for your blog. by: sakongkiu pkv
